23 Aug Why You Don’t Win “Best of Houzz – Design” award
You may have noticed that you do not win the “Best of Houzz – Design” award.
You may have a great looking Houzz profile and lots of great projects. You probably win the “Best of Houzz – Service” award but for you the “Best of Houzz – Design” award is ellusive.
Houzz tells you that you need to “upload beautiful, large, high-quality images of your work to Houzz” in order to win, but in reality this is not enough.
Here is a Houzz video that explains:
Here is the reason you are not winning this award:
People cannot find your photos.
It is as simple as that.
Simply creating projects and uploading photos on Houzz will not guarantee that you win the “Best of Houzz – Design” award. People need to be able to find your photos so they can save them to their ideabooks.
So yes, you should be creating projects on Houzz regularly and uploading great images.
Here is the key:
You must optimize your photos so that people can find them!
Optimizing Your Photos
Did you know that, by default, when you upload photos that they are not optimized for searches?
You could have the greatest-looking Houzz profile with lots of great projects and photos but if you do not optimize your photos then people will not find them and ultimately save them to their ideabooks. THIS IS KEY!
If this is the case for you, you can look and see how many saves you have to ideabooks. Simply go to your public profile and look at the badge that you have that indicates how many saves you have to ideabooks. Is it low? This is another indication that people cannot find your photos.
What can you do?
We have seen this issue many times with many clients. We have even had companies ask us why they do not win this award. Again, it is simple. People cannot find your photos.
Because of this we have created a Houzz Organic Optimization Program that teaches you what you need to know in order to optimize your photos and your profile.
You can learn more about our program: Houzz Optimization Program
But wait, I am Pro+ and still don’t win!
Just because your are Pro+ does not mean that you will get the exposure needed to have enough people finding your photos.
The best way to address this is by optimizing your photos show they show up organically!
Here is an example:
We have a client who is Pro+.
In 2016 they had 158,237 photo impressions from Pro+ (paid).
In 2016 they had 2,479,031 photo impressions from organic (free).
Their organic photo impressions were 15x that from Pro+.
So if you are Pro+ and you think that you do not need to optimize your projects and photos then you are missing out on alot of exposure.
